Rubber toys have been around for centuries, with some of the earliest examples being balls used in Mesoamerican ball games: The Olmec people used latex from rubber trees to make balls for their games around 3,000 years ago. The balls were either solid or hollow Thomas Hancock, a rubber manufacturer, created the first toy balloon in London in 1824 for a science experiment. The first rubber bath toys were made in the late 19th century, but the iconic yellow rubber duck became popular in the 20th century. The song "Rubber Duckie" from the TV show Sesame Street made the toy a household staple.
