Hosiery needles are used in the knitting of garments worn on the feet and legs, also known as hosiery or legwear. Here are some things to know about hosiery needles The gauge of a hosiery machine is the number of needles per 1.5 inches (3.8 cm). A higher gauge number means closer stitches. Some hosiery needles, like Groz-Beckert's dur needles, are designed to reduce the risk of faults in the knitted fabric. Dur needles are designed to be used under higher loads without compromising the performance of the sock machine.
