Cotton Wicks are braided cotton strands dipped in wax and compressed to hold their shape.Cotton wicks are used to light diyas as it absorbs oil and turns into a thin flame. In India, wicks are widely used as people prefer to use it during puja, hawans and in temples to light lamps to offer the God.During diwali, you see lighted lamps everywhere that is where we use this cotton wick which is dipped in oil and the oil is gradually soaked to light a thin flame in a lamp Cotton wick is a profitable business in the industry as cotton wicks are always in demands as India is a religious country and we Indians light lamps on every religious and auspicious occassions.
